- For walkers, especially those interested in exploring ancient religious sites, Dunfermline is located on the Fife Pilgrim Way, a Scottish 64 mile long distance footpath officially opened in July 2019 that runs inland through Fife, from Culross and North Queensferry via Dunfermline to St Andrews, following the route taken by medieval pilgrims to the cathedral of St Andrews.
- Cyclists are also well catered for with the off-road cycle route (Number 764) through attractive countryside from Dunfermline to Clackmannan starting about two hundred yards from the cottage, also good for walking.

Holiday Rentals
Terms and Conditions
1. Arrival unless otherwise agreed is from 4 pm onwards. We ask that you vacate the property no later than 10 am on the day of departure. Access details will be provided following receipt of the deposit.
2. The contract confers on you a right to occupy the accommodation for a holiday only and, in terms of section 12 (schedule 4, paragraph 8) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988 is not an ‘assured tenancy’.
3a Subletting is strictly prohibited. The person booking the accommodation must personally stay at the accommodation throughout the holiday and be over 18 years of age. He/she is solely responsible for the whole party. No more than the number stated in the booking may stay at the property.
(An exception will be made in the case of the personnel department of a Limited Liability company registered at Companies House, booking on behalf of its employees).
3b Activities of an illegal or immoral nature (Scottish law) are strictly prohibited.
Therefore no business of any kind that involves customers or clients visiting the property is allowed.
4. Guests must not make an excessive noise which would cause disturbance to neighbours, especially after the hour of 10.00pm..
5. Holiday Cancellation Insurance is not included in the rental and should you have to cancel your booking a refund will only be made if Scottish Holiday Rentals is able to re-let the accommodation for the period concerned. If successful we will refund the deposit and balance, if already paid, less a £30.00 re-booking fee. We must be notified of cancellation in writing prior to the commencement date of the holiday. We strongly recommend you take out your own travel insurance which includes unforeseen cancellation events.
AN EXCEPTION WILL BE MADE IN THE CASE OF GUESTS BEING UNABLE TO TRAVEL DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS.
6. We reserve the right to declare the contract void, the deposit forfeit and to re-let the accommodation should the balance not have been received within the time limit and, further, to claim the balance of rent if the accommodation is not re-let.
7. Dogs are not permitted in Kirk View Apartment, but where dogs are permitted they must be kept under proper control and not allowed on the furniture, and especially the beds, nor left unattended in the property. Dog owners will be held responsible for any damage caused to the property or contents by their dog and for any extra cleaning required. When out walking within the grounds you must ensure that dogs are kept on a lead. No more than 2 dogs are allowed per property.
8. Please ensure that you take all reasonable care in the use of the property and its contents including the security of the property and you will report any damages as soon as they occur. Scottish Holiday Rentals reserves the right to charge for all repairs, losses or replacements necessitated by the negligent act or omission of any of your party, guests or invitees. If necessary this may include an administration charge.
9. You are requested to leave the accommodation clean and tidy. Scottish Holiday Rentals reserves the right to make a charge for extra cleaning if the accommodation is not left in a satisfactory condition.
10. The description of the property is as accurate as possible but cannot be warranted, nor do the descriptions form any contract. Scottish Holiday Rentals reserves the right to alter or improve any of the subjects without notice.
11. Smart 40 in or 43 in televisions which via Freeview include most of the major channels, are provided. Guests must avoid leaving downloads which might be unacceptable to subsequent guests.
12. Free, high speed unlimited WiFi is provided, but we cannot be held responsible for technical problems beyond our control.
13. In the very, very unlikely event of Scottish Holiday Rentals having to cancel your holiday for any reason, every effort will be made to let you know as soon as possible, and a refund will be made of all monies paid by you to us for the accommodation booked. No further financial claims against Scottish Holiday Rentals will be considered.
14. As far as the law allows, Scottish Holiday Rentals takes no responsibility for loss, damage or injury to you or any of your party as a consequence of this agreement or the occupancy following thereon.
15. You will indemnify Scottish Holiday Rentals or their agents against loss, damage or injury sustained to the property or persons as a result of any breach of these conditions or arising from the fault of you or any member of your party.
16. Please note that the advertised prices are for accommodation, and include heating, lighting and WiFi.
17. Candles and smoking are not permitted in any of our properties due to fire safety regulations (and the likelihood of setting off the smoke detectors!).
18. The proprietors or their agents whomsoever reserve the right to enter the property at any reasonable time.
19. In the very unlikely event of the accommodation becoming inaccessible due to bad weather we are unable to offer any refund and strongly recommend you take out your own travel insurance.
20. Every effort has been made to ensure that you have an enjoyable holiday. If, however, you have cause for complaint, we are anxious that remedial action is taken as quickly as possible. Please contact Scottish Holiday Rentals.
